Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Sr. Program Administrator for the The Labor Education Action Research Network ( LEARN) at the School of Management and Labor Relations to serve as a labor education specialist who can develop, lead and facilitate labor education programming and administer and promote our growing program.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Designs and leads non-credit programs for working adults, union members and leaders, and labor relations professionals at the labor education center, via online learning tools, as well as around the state of New Jersey at remote sites.
  • Leads and partners with department heads, staff, and external partners on the development and delivery of external-facing as well as university wide initiatives and project strategies that convey key messages, raise awareness, deepen understanding, and increase engagement and adoption among members of the community as well as external stakeholders.
  • Drives decision making on how to engage and expand our audiences through tracking and analysis of data, analytics, and key performance indicators; build on measurement expertise to gauge the effectiveness of communication activities, including the assessment, development, and application of appropriate metrics to measure impact.
  • Designs, promotes, and implements customized programs to meet the needs of our clients as well as coordinating and implementing existing educational programs, often in collaboration with other faculty and staff.
  • Provides supervision and/or oversight of work product for student team members, as needed.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Five (5) years of relevant professional experience in administrative or similar function.

Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Instructional experience and experience working with or for unions and a strong understanding of how unions operate.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teaching expertise using diverse methodologies to effectively relate to a wide variety of learners from various backgrounds, particularly non-traditional and adult learners.
  • Basic digital skills, including the use of the Microsoft Office suite and the Google suite of apps.
  • Strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to travel around New Jersey to meet with stakeholders, develop, and deliver programming.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Personal experience with worker or community organizing, collective bargaining, and grievance handling in the union context.
  • Strong knowledge of and/or experience working with worker organizations, worker centers, or other movement organizations that deal with work and employment issues.
  • Skills with simple graphic design software such as Canva or other, and social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.

  • Constant Contact for email management.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to travel around New Jersey to meet with stakeholders, develop, and deliver programming.
