Medical Research Tech I Lubbock 39304BR Position Description Employees in this classification provide support in an assigned research laboratory. Duties include performing standard laboratory experiments and procedures on specimens from patients and/or experimental animals, routine maintenance and clean-up of the laboratory and caring for experimental animals. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards may be present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic or other potentially harmful substances. Major/Essential Functions -Maintain established cell lines for ongoing projects. -Assist P.I. in maintaining a supportive and collegial working environment that fosters the exchange of ideas and enhances scientific progress. -Inventorying freezers, and nitrogen database. -Perform DIMSCAN assay on cell lines. -Establish and maintain laboratory records (expenditures, budget, equipment, manuals and records, animal use records, reagent and experimental protocols, material safety data sheets, databases, biohazardous materials). -Assist P.I., postdocs, other employees, and students in misc. tasks, media preparation, stocking cell culture supplies, autoclaving, aiding new students/employees in experimental procedures. -Responsible for digitally scanning and organizing research records. Initiates and maintains an accurate and timely filing system. -Assists administrative staff with organizing and stocking necessary office supplies. Assists administrative staff with maintaining a clean office environment. Required Qualifications High school graduation. No previous work experience.
