DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Air Quality Engineering Trainee operates under the guidance of a licensed Professional Engineer, engaging in various tasks that contribute to air quality management. This role involves assessing data and relevant documentation to ascertain the need for permitting actions related to Requests for Determination (RFDs) submitted by companies, utilizing the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) guidelines for exemptions alongside applicable State and Federal regulations. Additionally, the trainee is responsible for conducting thorough research to understand how these State and Federal requirements pertain to the sources identified in the applications submitted to the DEP. Furthermore, the trainee provides essential information to the regulated community regarding any issues or challenges they may face, outlining how compliance can be achieved through adherence to the relevant State and Federal rules and regulations, as well as through effective operation, maintenance, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting practices. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- This position requires travel for training and site inspections.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,861 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- A bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
Other Requirements:
