Engineering District 9-0 is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their traffic team. This 12-month training program will equip you with a comprehensive understanding of traffic engineering principles. Upon completion, you will advance to the role of Traffic Control Technician, where you will be instrumental in Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) Signing, creating unique signs and detours, managing traffic control, and have the chance for career growth within the organization.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The trainee program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of traffic control duties over the course of one year. Trainees will be involved in assisting with tourist oriented directional signing requests, as well as providing technical support to both internal and external customers on signing and detour issues. Additionally, trainees will play a role in the development and review of proposed detour routes within a two-week timeframe upon receiving the request.
Trainees will also be required to utilize SAP as necessary to review county updates for accuracy and collaborate with Bureau of Highway Safety and Traffic Engineering to contribute to the development and testing of SAP signing improvements. Furthermore, trainees will assist in the annual review and update of signing as directed, and complete all assigned training for roles defined in SAP. This program aims to equip trainees with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out traffic control related duties.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after the successful initial training period, In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
