The NSS Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Naval Analyst to work in the Alexandria, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the OSD CAPE mission. In this mission we support DoD Leadership in making crucial decisions by supporting studies and analysis on Forces, Units, and Equipment related to the Navy.

Primary Responsibilities.

  • Provide expertise on Navy Force Structure, Force Employment, and Global Force Management (GFM), particularly allocation and assignment.

  • Acquire, store, and assess historical and current deployment data for priority Navy Force Elements.

  • Utilize analytical skills to support strategic studies and respond to quick turn requests.

  • Develop, store, and maintain reference data.

Basic Qualifications.

  • Bachelors Degree and a Minimum of 12+ years of experience in management of Department of Defense Forces, Units, Equipment and/or Infrastructure, and the understanding of strategic planning and metadata management (additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree)

  • 10+ years of experience of U.S. current military operations, readiness and deployment routines covering the following military domains: maritime.

  • Demonstrated abilities to develop and present analysis results/briefings on their areas of expertise to senior DoD officials and groups.

  • Familiarity with Global Force Management (GFM), particularly force allocation and assignment.

  • Familiarity with DoD strategic systems, including Joint Capability Requirements Manager (JCRM), Maritime Tactical Command & Control (MTC2), Navy Unit Deployment Scheduler (DepSked), Fleet Forces Command (FFC) WebSked, and FFC Master Aviation Plan (MAP).

  • Clearance required: Active DoD Secret Clearance required to start

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in Excel and Access.

  • Navy military experience

  • Knowledge of naval munitions

  • Knowledge of Force Elements

  • Knowledge of Global Force Management Allocation Plans (GFMAP) and Secretary of Defense Orders Book (SDOB)

  • Knowledge of DoD force readiness ratings with the ability to develop/execute Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) reports and queries.

  • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

  • Python experience
