Internship Coordinator

Responsible for coordination and oversight of the Senator Durbin - Advocate Health Care Youth Pipeline Program and the development of internship onboarding processes, evaluation, data collection/reporting and contribution to the conversion rate of interns to full-time hires.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the activities around the paid internship program, screens applicant resumes; conducts and coordinates interviews; assists in developing program guidelines and orientation schedules; coordinates and conducts training; and plans and attends organized events.
  • Facilitates job placement of interns by working with operational leaders to determine department needs in positions with potential future employment; engages operational leaders throughout internship process and address questions and concerns.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of the various programs materials, which includes communication templates, educational materials, forms and reports and alignment of interns w/ internal mentors.
  • Maintains program timelines, including tracking deadlines for program components. Reports program data and progress to key stakeholders.
  • Carries out administrative responsibilities related to the internship program, including: inputting applicant information into talent management database; collecting and maintaining performance evaluations; tracking performance and areas of interest; conducting follow-ups after internship completion to provide support in identifying full-time employment opportunities and assisting in removing procedural barriers to hiring process; providing referrals to hiring managers to assist in job placement.
  • Maintains comprehensive databases and files related to the internship program and tracks success of programs.
  • Assists with development, administration and promotion of specific projects (e.g., create survey to assess interns' program experience and report responses).

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Human Resources or related field.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in recruiting and an understanding of all stages of the employee life cycle.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • High energy and mature with strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and reprioritizing as required.
  • Strong skills with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Work, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to interact with and build credibility among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to see projects from start to finish.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, consistently demonstrating a high degree of professionalism.
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Position may require travel which may result in exposure to road and weather hazards.
  • Exposed to normal office environment.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
