SUMMARY

The Trauma Nurse Support Specialist collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to provide improved comprehensive services to patients and will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on outcome measures. Serves as a clinical resource with expertise in trauma care management and help to educate patients and families regarding follow up care and course of treatment. Identifies and eliminates barriers to timely diagnosis and treatments. Provides educational support to the Emergency Care Center and Marcus Trauma Center nurses, paramedics, and ancillary staff. Collaborates with advanced department specific educators to identify and mitigate education deficits related to the care of the injured patient. Serves as a liaison between the Trauma Program and the Marcus trauma Center to ensure that core documentation metrics are being met in accordance with guidelines from the American College of Surgeons. Participates in regional trauma education and outreach efforts. Develops educational programs with other members of the Trauma Service for hospital staff. Attends Trauma Department meetings as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Master's of Science degree in Nursing preferred
  • Two (2) or more years job related experience including Clinical Nursing Experience
  • Four (4) or more years job related experience including Clinical Nursing Experience
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
