Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy is looking for an innovative and proactive manager to oversee the launch and deployment of an exciting new master's degree in AI Systems Management (MAISM). The MAISM degree will matriculate its first set of students in fall of 2025.

Heinz College has a cutting-edge portfolio of professional master's degrees that attracts students from across the globe. MAISM will be delivered as a full-time program on our Pittsburgh main campus. There is considerable work to be performed by the incumbent in the rolling out and subsequent oversight and leadership of the MAISM degree. The Senior Director for Master of AI Systems Management (MAISM) and the School of Information Systems Management will partner with the Associate Dean for Information Systems Management. The incumbent will serve as the head product manager of the MAISM degree, overseeing multiple facets of program delivery, student support, and program growth. The Senior Director will also create and steward a structure for academic program portfolio evaluation and management including metric development and tracking, curriculum alignment, committee management, and internal and external outcomes reporting.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Able to identify and capitalize on potential strategies to attract new students to the Heinz College AI programs and to sell the CMU value proposition. This includes understanding and communicating AI talent needs and career outcomes.

  • Able to build strong relationships with outside organizations and capitalize on these relationships in ways that benefit the College and our students.

  • Continuous strategic evaluation of academic program offerings and their alignment with market needs.

  • Collaborate with student support services to develop programs that enhance student success

  • Work with Admissions, Career Services, and Marketing to develop strategies for increasing student recruitment and enhancing employer visibility across all of our AI assets.

  • Manage the capstone project lifecycle from project intake, team formation, and team assessments.

  • Develop metrics and track data on academic program health for both internal and external assessments.

  • Oversee program budget.

  • Gather and organize information to support the review and update of student records, curriculum, handbooks, and marketing content. Take a data centric approach to decision making and strategy formulation.

  • Excellent administrative, managerial, organizational and planning skills, including ability to prioritize work and work independently.

  • Lead support staff and working with co-sponsors to coordinate events of various sizes.

  • Support students, faculty, fiscal management, academic services, admissions, and other college or central departments.

  • Excellent culturally responsive written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present information to audiences of various sizes and backgrounds.

  • Superior computer and database management skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suites.

  • Demonstrate appropriate sensitivity to maintaining and safeguarding confidentiality.

  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions, meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality in work produced.

  • The Senior Director will partner with the Associate Dean of the School of Information Systems Management to continuously assess degree programs while considering new strategic initiatives to expand reach and impact. They will also provide direct oversight of Program Directors of the School of Information Systems & Management.

  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed and travel both internationally and domestically.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Business, or related field

  • Five (5) years of related experience in higher education or data science.

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
