What you'll be doing:



  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • Perform monthly closing procedures and prepare managerial financial statements and reports.
  • Compile financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts including documenting business transactions.
  • Lead the review of financial statements comparing actual expenditures against budgeted expenditures during the month-end closing process. Propose standard and adjusting journal entries where required.
  • Coordinate and assist in financial audit activities.
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare revenue, expense, invoices and other accounting documents.
  • Provide continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities.
  • Analyze revenue and expenditure trends, recommend appropriate budget levels, and communicate expenditure control issues to business operations leaders.
  • Collaborate with and provide information on billing invoices, and accounting policies to staff, vendors and internal clients.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Recommend, develop and maintain financial databases, accounting computer software systems and manual filing systems.
  • Prepare, review and maintain fixed assets sub-ledger including additions, construction in progress and disposals.
  • Lead the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company's automated financial systems.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
  • Responsible for ad hoc analysis, account reconciliations and special projects as needed.
  • Provides training and support to Accountants.
  • Additional duties and projects may be assigned at the discretion of the V.P. Finance & IT.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
  • Five or more (5+) years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of debt financing a plus
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting preferred
  • Working knowledge of fund accounting for a non-profit organization, a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast paced setting
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-wide accounting Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Navision) or other large, automated accounting system a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Advance Microsoft Excel required
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
