Texas Oncology is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to join our team! This is a predominately remote position but will be expected to visit sites in their region 1-2 times per week.

What does the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor do?

This position ssupervises the day to day operations of a multi-site practice of admixture technicians ensuring sites are adequately staffed, trained, and operating within regulatory guidelines. Responsible for inventory management of drugs overseeing inventory control, storage, shipping, and receiving. Determines appropriate drug levels based on patient flow, shelf life, drug outages, and recalls. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include Code of Ethics and Business Standards and Shared Values.


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervises the daily activities of drug mixing. Conducts workflow planning, staffing, training, and troubleshooting complex or unusual admixture questions.
  • Implements process improvements to achieve quality and productivity operational goals.
  • Drafts policy and procedures to ensure compliance with existing or new regulations.
  • Answers questions and resolves issues pertaining to the handling and shipment of drugs.
  • Responsible for all sites being in compliance with accreditation, quality assurance, legal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Implements and enforces waste management regulations so medications are correctly stored and disposed.
  • Monitors and communicates changes in drug regulations to appropriate pharmacy staff.
  • Covers as a Pharmacy Tech as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor role will have the following background and experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification from accredited Pharmacy Technician school required and tech license must be in good standing.
  • Extensive experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
  • Prior IV admixture training is a plus.
  • Must have IV certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Oncology background preferred.
  • Prior lead,supervisory or management experience preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be present at the employee site during regularly scheduled business hours and regularly required to sit or stand and talk or hear. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
