GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Center for Systems Biology (CSB) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) seeks applications for research technicians interested in new methods for targeted gene delivery.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and perform research activities, sample handling and experimental planning, documentation and record-keeping, and analysis of results with researchers including postdoctoral fellows and faculty.

Perform microscopy experiments to study molecular and cellular behaviors in cancer and in response to drug delivery. Plan, perform, analyze, and document microscopy experiments and corresponding results.

Perform experiments in mice to evaluate molecular and cellular migration and response to localized drug delivery.

Participate in department seminar and weekly lab meetings.



    SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:



      Ability to understand and conduct research in cancer and drug delivery biology, as gained through at minimum a Bachelor's level degree in biology, chemistry, biological engineering, or related science or engineering program.

      Competency after training in designing, conducting, documenting, and analyzing experiments to study tissue and cellular specimens by microscopy, western blot, and qPCR.

      Competency after training in designing, conducting, documenting, and analyzing experiments in mice to study tissue dynamics and drug delivery.

      Competency after training in preparing figures and writing manuscript and abstract texts for peer-review publications and conference presentations.

      Qualifications

      EDUCATION:



      • Bachelor's degree required.


      EXPERIENCE:



      • New graduates with some lab experience (via course work, internships, etc.) or those without any prior research experience will be considered for the Research Technician I position outlined above.
