Reports To: Manager, Photography Date Description last revised: Nov. 2024 The Photography Department at the Mass General Hospital is searching for a versatile large scale print operator for our in-house print services. The position sits in a creative department with photography, video and animation. Ideal candidate is a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit. Must be familiar with HP latex 365, Roland and Ricoh machines. The person will handle initial request intake, printing files and packaging the final product. The MGH Photo Department prints on vinyl, paper, and fabric for a wide variety of departments, committees and individuals throughout the hospital. The scope of clients, audience, subject matter and creative solutions is broad, encompassing patient care, research, education and community. The person should be comfortable interacting with clients on a wide variety of project types from posters to brochures to prints and stickers. Person should be comfortable printing on a variety of substrate, laminating and mounting on deadline. The print production position reports to the Photography Department Manager who leads the video, photography and printing operations and oversees creative within the department. The production person should be confident in their technical and peoples skills and be an effective collaborator and comfortable working independently on projects. * Use/s ass General Brigham values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors. These values guide how we get our work done: Patients, Affordability, Accountability & Service Commitment, Decisiveness, Innovation & Thoughtful Risk; and how we treat each other: Diversity & Inclusion, Integrity & Respect, Learning, Continuous Improvement & Personal Growth, Teamwork & Collaboration * Large Format Printing: Operate large format printers, maintain machine logs, troubleshoot, and place service calls when needed. * RIP and Production Equipment: Operate and maintain RIP and print production equipment, load large rolls. * Vinyl Preparation & Application: Prepare and apply vinyl, including setup, trimming, and mounting to substrates. * Safe Use of Tools & Chemicals: Use chemicals safely, including latex inks, cleaning solvents, precision knives, metal straight edges, rubbing alcohol, and other related materials. * Shipping & Packaging: Prepare finished products for shipping and delivery to multiple locations. * Job Ticket Management: Intake job ticket information and follow specific instructions as indicated by requests. * File and Folder Organization: Maintain organized files and folders for clients and MGH Photo. * Adobe Creative Cloud Proficiency: Familiar with Adobe Creative Cloud for file setup and management. * Quality Control: Conduct quality control at designated steps throughout the production process. * Team Collaboration & Deadline Management: Be a resourceful, collaborative team player with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Brand Compliance: Understand and adhere to brand policies when consulting with internal clients across the system. * Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed or required. Qualifications
* 3-4 years' experience in large format printing * Entrepreneurial self-starter * Ability to prioritize clients and projects * Detail-oriented * Curious learner * Ability to pick up 60 pounds * Ability to apply brand identity systems, typography, photography, color and other visual elements to meet marketing and business needs * Ability to apply critical thinking to various tasks * Ability to understand and follow directions * Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and multiple deadlines * Ability to manage and effectively utilize a wide variety of vendor relationships * Possible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites * This position is 100% on-site * The position is 40 hours a week * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
