Scope of Position:

The Donor Relations Coordinator manages the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts for a caseload of 1200 Mid-level ($1,000+) donors through strategic communications, mission-driven donor experiences, and personalization that result in continual and increased giving. The eventual goal is to qualify and move donors to Major Gift managed files as appropriate. The DRC also will partner with leaders, colleagues, and members of the Development Department in a range of activities to build strong relationships between Mid-level caseload donors and TSA programs, leading to increased support and partnership.

Education:

Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: BA/BS in relevant field such as Business or Sales or Marketing.

Work Experience:

Required: nonprofit fundraising, sales, marketing, public relations, customer service.

License: Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Above average written and oral communication skills including ability to make well organized and impactful presentations, proposals and marketing materials.
* Exceptional interpersonal and phone skills.
* Excellent customer service to internal and external customers
* Solid computer literacy and proficient in using the internet for research.

* Analytical and comfortable working with databases.
* Solid skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canva and other computer programs.
* Experience in managing a portfolio, goals-based fundraising and/or direct solicitation is a plus.
* Experience or familiarity with working in a complex non-profit organization with many departments, programs and fund-raising priorities is desirable.
* Familiarity with issues of fundraising, general professionalism and workplace ethics.
* Able to adapt and show flexibility in response to changing job situations and priorities.
* Goal-oriented and driven to make a difference; proven ability to meet/exceed expectations.
* Able to manage confidential information with an appropriate level of discretion.
* Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
* Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals, including donors, volunteers, colleagues, and organizational leaders.
* Strong organizational skills including ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities efficiently, follow through and meet deadlines.
* Able to support and promote the mission, values and charitable work of The Salvation Army through one's professional actions, behavior and encounters with others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Meets regularly with Divisional Director of Development or other designated leader for accountability discussions regarding strategy and moves.
* Manages a caseload of approximately 1200 of the Mid-level donors as follows:

* Cultivates relationships by updating, appreciating, and asking donors to deepen their partnership with The Salvation Army, including solicitation of gifts.
* Creates a written monthly and yearly strategy plan of donor touches to ensure that all donors on caseload receive (at least) quarterly communications.
* Executes strategy through phone, email, mail, social media and customized notes/correspondence.
* Engages in occasional face-to-face communication with giving prospects/donors on a limited number of accounts that qualify at the highest level within the tier.
* Captures new information regarding donor's interests, relationships, life events, and capacity for philanthropic giving; enters information into the donor's database record.
* Establishes a yearly caseload goal based on previous year's income and expected lift.
* Identifies triggers regarding donors with high-capacity potential for referral to leadership.
* Steward's donors who have reached their maximum giving potential.
* Manages all office systems related to DRC duties, including maintaining updated database donor files, tracking spreadsheets, correspondence, and gift acknowledgments, etc., in keeping with department policies and procedures. Documents all donor interactions through database contact reports and according to established business practices. Carries out any office and computer-related tasks important to fulfilling the goals of the position.

Learns and stays current on The Salvation Army's programs and projects and effectively communicates the mission to donors.
* Conducts oneself in a professional, friendly, and truthful manner when dealing with donors.
* Works collaboratively with the Donor Relations Directors, Senior Donor Relations Directors, and others as appropriate in Development to identify major gift donor prospects and qualified donors among the Mid-level caseload donors for addition to MG caseloads.
* Develops collateral materials that 'tell the programmatic story of Salvation Army service' to encourage giving and align with donor/prospects interests.
* Assists with logistics and collaborates with team members and volunteers within budget to implement touch points, events and activities.
* Responds with urgency to the needs and requests of others, internally and externally, and ensures a high degree of responsiveness to all donors regardless of giving level
* Keeps leadership informed on critical issues impacting areas of responsibility in a timely manner.
* Attends Divisional CRD meetings and monthly THQ ML meetings.
* Adheres to The Salvation Army's policies and procedures in carrying out job duties.
* Executes other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Works with sensitive and confidential material. Driving, driving long distances, overnight travel, and possible extended travel. The following equipment may be used: telephone, computer equipment, fax/copy machine, 10-key calculator, Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to sit; climb and/or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crouch and/or crawl; stand for long periods of time; walk, reach overhead.
* Ability of manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision.
* Ability to drive a vehicle.
* Ability to lift to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
* Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as file cabinet drawers and reach overhead.
* Ability to operate telephone.
* Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
* Ability to understand written information.
