YAGEO/KEMET Electronics is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer in Simpsonville, SC. This role will work will drive equipment engineering projects to design new equipment and build new or modify existing production equipment.

Job Description: Project Engineer will drive equipment engineering projects to design new equipment and build new or modify existing production equipment. Responsibilities will include:



  • Manage capital equipment projects from start to finish - Estimate project costs, develop project plans, and submit and manage capital projects.


  • Lead other engineers and technicians in the design and build of new production equipment.


  • Perform basic machine design tasks on equipment as needed.


  • Work with Development teams, Production and Process Engineering to modify or improve existing production equipment as needed.


  • Develop a broad understanding of the equipment and basic technologies used to make tantalum capacitors.


  • Communicate effectively and work as a team with internal employees located globally, as well as external vendors.


  • Ensure projects meet design, quality, and safety standards.


  • Create equipment specifications, operator training instructions, and other technical documents as needed.


  • Prepare progress reports for leadership as required.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:



  • Strong mechanical engineering and equipment engineering background through formal education and 0-5 years of experience. (B.S. in Mechanical Engineering)


  • Ability to manage small to medium ($50K - $1M) equipment engineering projects and lead a small team of engineers and technicians in the design and build of production equipment. Manage project schedule, resources and project costs to meet required objectives.


  • Able to coordinate activities within KEMET across different plants and externally with key KEMET equipment suppliers.


  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical abilities and organizational skills.


  • Proficient using Word, Excel, Power Point.


  • Experience with MS Project/Gantt chart software.


  • Proficient in SolidWorks.


  • The successful candidate will be a team player and will have a good work ethic, good time management skills, creativity, analytical skills, and strong communication skills.


  • Broad knowledge of assembly, termination and encapsulation methods used in surface mount passive component or IC industry is desirable.


  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
