The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, PA and the Center for Health Equity at SKCC is excited to announce new population science tenure-track faculty positions.

We are committed to attracting and retaining a distinguished and diverse faculty. Successful candidates must demonstrate a record of research excellence appropriate to their rank as well as the ability and willingness to mentor doctoral and/or post-doctoral trainees interested in health equity in cancer. The new faculty will become core faculty members in the Cancer Risk and Control program in the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, currently made up of a group of 37 faculty members from 15 departments across Jefferson and Drexel. We are open to negotiating joint appointments with Drexel University, thanks to a newly-revised consortium agreement between Jefferson and Drexel focused on cancer research.

These positions will form a new faculty cluster focused on Cancer Health Equity and will include up to three tenure-track faculty members in addition to the existing faculty on the two campuses focused on disparities and equity. In addition to generous start-up packages offered to potential applicants, there will be additional infrastructure support for cross-school collaborations in the newly established Center for Cancer Health Equity. The Center for Cancer Health Equity is a developing entity, focused on quantitative approaches to assess the confluence of issues, both structural and social that lead to inequities in cancer health outcomes. The Center will provide infrastructure including access to EPIC-derived cohorts from 18 hospitals, quantitative staff, post-doctoral scholars, and the opportunity to advise PhD students from Drexel School of Public Health programs.

Applicants should have expertise focused on structural racism, disparities, and the impact on cancer-related outcomes; healthcare access and associated policies, how structural racism is measured; or interest in how interventions and/or policy changes can be used to create racially just and equitable cancer health. outcomes.

We are particularly interested in investigators (PhD, DrPH, MD, DO, or MD/PhD) with research expertise in the following areas:

Molecular epidemiology

Social epidemiology

Biostatistics

Informatics

Bioinformatics

Preference will be given to investigators focused on SKCC catchment area priorities including breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, multiple myeloma, and colorectal cancer.
