POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Director of Workplace Telecommunications.

In this role, the successful candidate will report to the Senior Director of Workplace Technology. The Director of Telecommunications is responsible for assisting in providing technical leadership and project and personnel management to support and operationalize best practices around our telecommunications systems and services. At NYU Langone Health we leverage traditional and digital telephony for desktop computers, laptops, smart phones, tablets, printers, kiosks, audio visual technology and a variety of IoT devices both wired and wireless, that cater to our clinical administrative education and research staff. The Director will partner with engineering and project teams to align priority perform assessments and be the liaison with key strategic partners/vendors, to ensure that telecommunications services are maintained and always within accepted vendor guidelines to keep the technology debt at agreed upon levels. This role will provide structure and leadership to manage team priorities, streamline work efforts, manage business expectations and communicate status to leadership. As a member of the infrastructure management team you will also have the chance to offer new thinking on how we refresh our telecommunications technology. This role involves managing telecommunications staff who handle service delivery telephone operators' system management and maintenance and installation tasks. The individual should be comfortable working across all of NYU Langone Health's business units to implement, enhance and maintain telecommunications technologies. This role is crucial for the development of strategies to enable collaboration in the future making our environment an easier place to communicate.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Increase the effectiveness of NYU Langone Health endpoint platforms by building strategies and delivering value

* Develop an understanding of the technologies currently in use and the business use cases that they serve; identify white spaces in them and evaluate how they can be mitigated

* Plans for the establishment of new voice telecommunications systems and improvements of existing voice telecommunications facilities

* Develops standards procedures and policies to ensure the continuing operational effectiveness of NYU Langone Health's voice networks

* Work closely with MCIT architects and formulate strategies on how workplace technologies can improve employee satisfaction and productivity

* Ensure all systems and services across Long Island Brooklyn and Manhattan locations are fully operational and support the needs of hospital staff

* Utilize platforms such as Avaya and Cisco to manage telephony infrastructure ensuring reliability and compliance with organizational standards

* Lead the response to telecommunication outages ensuring effective incident management and coordination with relevant teams

* Assess the latest market trends in telephony and evaluate how they can be incorporated to improve collaboration of end users up down and across the organization

* Communicate effectively within and across multiple teams including vendors when required

* Manage relationships with telecommunications vendors ensuring service agreements are met and that new technologies are implemented successfully

* Participate in vendor selection for telecommunication services and equipment

* Ensure all telecommunications technologies have rock solid business as usual operating practices

* The role is accountable for project delivery deadlines and communications for the projects assigned/owned by this group

* Proactively managing the operating budget for this group including making sure that the group is spending the institutions money wisely and variance are escalated and explained thoroughly

* Build and leverage proactive monitoring solutions for both usage and to monitor technology health

* Drive cultural change and increase collaboration levels within the organization

* Provide leadership across the function while driving performance improvement building technical capability and developing talent

* Drive a culture of continuous improvement that proactively manages resolution of serious and complex problems identifying underlying causes and performing corrective action appropriately

* Increase the use of conferencing technologies for business use cases e g review meetings interviews corporate communications etc.

* Provide the rapid integration of emerging technologies and innovation allowing our internal customers to access their data securely anywhere and anytime

* Assess maturity and address the true business needs related to mobility collaboration and self-care while ensuring performance and cost efficiency

* Sponsor Voice of the Customer workshops and adopt continuous improvement best practices

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:

* Deep telephony experience Cisco Avaya and legacy systems as well as soft phones call centers and SIP Technical expertise in both wired and wireless networking including: Distributed Antenna Systems and 5G Proven track record of exerting significant influence on business and technology partners for deploying large scale transformation programs for enhanced collaboration in a healthcare organization (would also consider a financial services firm)

* Comprehensive knowledge of social networking solutions and an understanding of nuances associated with deployment to create an innovative work culture in a hybrid work onsite and remote environment

* Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment

* Proven track record of leading telecom projects managing outages and collaborating with cross functional teams

* Availability for on call rotation to manage critical telecommunications incidents

* Willingness to travel between Long Island Brooklyn and Manhattan sites as needed

* Previous experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams across multiple locations and remotely for large and complex environments

* Knowledge of developing setting and driving standards while operationalizing various technologies

* Act as a catalyst for change by identifying opportunities for business and/or IT performance improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Information Technology or a related field

* 10-15 years of experience in telecommunications with at least 7 years in a leadership role preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting

* Intimate knowledge of distributed systems technologies such as server storage telecommunications enterprise monitoring tools architecture

* Health care experience a plus; understanding of the requirements of an integrated academic medical center

* Experience managing a team of 50 staff

* Experience managing multiple projects and initiatives Industry vendor knowledge and established relationships

* Effective speaker collaborative worker and good writing skills

* Experience with architecture and engineering review board governance structure with a central project management office

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $213,477.56 - $230,787.95 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
