Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Visiting Researcher within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Visiting Researcher Scholar position is to work under the direction of the principal investigator. This individual will work in the area of molecular cancer biology and signaling transduction. The current focus of the lab is the function of p53 in cellular metabolism, the functional study of several novel p53 target genes, and their contribution to tumor suppression. Through above functional and mechanistic studies, we aim to further understand the functions of p53 and identify new molecules in the p53 pathway for potential therapeutic intervention.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Works under the direction of the principal investigator
- Perform functional and mechanistic studies and experiments that are proposed in the grant, with specific focus on the function of the p53 pathway in tumorigenesis and the regulation of the p53 pathway under the direction of the principal investigator.
- Must possess effective oral and written communication skills and ability to publish scientific research papers/articles and written reports and oral presentations of research experiments.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values.

Minimum Education and Experience |
- The Visiting Researcher candidate should have PhD in molecular biology and/or cellular biology or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is also essential.
- Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Interaction with RUTGERS, RWJMS, CINJ, and RWJUH management, administrative, clinical and laboratory staff.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Strong background in molecular biology and/or cellular biology.
- Expertise in protein and/or nucleic acid biochemistry is highly desirable.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.
- Lab environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
