Position Summary

Would you
liked to work for a core-office organization with a lot of variety? Interact
with multiple departments across HSC with a focus on accounting? And do you
also want to be a team member in a department with low turnover that encourages
professional development? If yes, the HSC Financial Services Division is
looking for you.

Performs basic
accounting functions such as ledger/fund analysis, cost analysis, and invoice
preparation. Prepares financial reports
from standard operating statistics and/or financial data. Investigates and
resolves problems related to funds, budgets, expenditures, and/or procurement
practices. Provides assistance in the development, implementation and
maintenance of internal fiscal systems and procedures, applying basic concepts,
methods, and techniques. May serve as unit/area transaction initiator or
requisitioner.

The University of New Mexico will reclassify all Grade 11 and 12 exempt positions to non-exempt on January 1, 2025, to comply with FLSA regulations. Although the position you're applying for is currently listed as exempt, it will shift to non-exempt as of that date.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 9 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience
    working with the UNM accounting system or other large enterprise system
  • Ability to
    apply internal policies as well as state and federal rules and regulations
  • Experience
    monitoring and reconciling high volume accounts
