Job Description

Position Objective:

Primary function of the buyer position is to support manufacturing operations to achieve 100% on time delivery performance by purchasing materials in the most cost-effective manner with consideration to historical information, forecasts and other available intelligence to equally maintain the desired levels of inventory. Incumbent would utilize Oracle MRP and other planning/purchasing techniques.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Place purchase orders with vendors to ensure proper supply of materials to meet daily production needs.
  • Provide key vendors with forecasts updated on a regular basis (at least monthly) to ensure proper supply of needed materials.
  • Use Oracle MRP module to optimize inventory turns and release Po's to vendors with proper lead-times needed.
  • Ensure all Safety stocks & lead times & Minimum order quantities are correct in oracle, adjusting accordingly as demand changes.
  • Manage all open and past due Po's within Oracle by using Open / Late Orders report.
  • Manage all exceptions, pull ins, push outs, & delete orders as needed
  • Proactively communicate with suppliers as needed regarding supply needs, shortages, pricing, and invoicing issues.
  • Provide monthly feedback to key vendors on metrics such as quality and on time delivery.
  • Review Raw Material & Excess Inventory each week to help in reducing any slow moving / excess inventory issues
  • Make recommendations regarding Excess & Obsolete materials.
  • Ensure proper raw material costs are maintained within Oracle for standard costing purposes.
  • Support inventory on hand accuracy improvement projects by working with production departments, engineering, and stockroom associates to correct bill of material issues and maintain accurate inventory on hand reporting.
  • Maintain correct item setups in Oracle, planner codes, price costs, lead times, sourcing rules, etc. to ensure efficient use of Oracle MRP.
  • Support Strategic Sourcing projects and initiatives as required.
  • Providing cost savings ideas on a regular basis
  • Maintain highest standards of integrity and maintains honest, fair, and legal relationships with all vendors.
  • Support Buyer I with training and instruction as requested.
  • Manages Key material commodities across LSNA for all locations
  • Seen as a leader and expert in area of responsibility with proven record of success in daily job functions.
  • Additional duties assigned by department manager as required by business needs.

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 2- 5 years materials/purchasing experience in high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Oracle experience a plus
  • APICS certification a plus
  • Must be a team player
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint knowledge

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or 5 years related experience
