Overview

The American Institutes for Research (AIR) is seeking a proactive and dedicated Human Capital Partner Associate to join our Human Resources team. This role is critical in supporting internal client groups by fostering a positive, high-performance work environment. The Human Capital Partner Associate will be essential to implementing strategic human capital initiatives and providing both tactical and consultative HR support to employees and managers. This position promotes AIR's commitment to employee engagement, equity, and inclusion, fostering a thriving culture and providing hands-on experience in HR consulting within a mission-driven organization.

This position offers the flexibility to work remotely within the United States (U.S.), hybrid, or full-time from one of AIR's U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with Human Capital Partners (HCPs) and other HR specialists, the Human Capital Partner Associate will engage in various areas, including employee relations, talent acquisition, staff development, and data-driven insights that shape our human capital strategies. Responsibilities include:

    Assist HCPs with employee relations matters, including hiring, staff development, terminations, employee complaints, and legal actions, while mitigating organizational risk.
  • Support and coach management and staff on human resources-related topics.
  • Collaborate with the recruiting team to ensure effective execution of the recruiting strategy and process within assigned units. Coordinate with recruiters on new hire offer terms to ensure internal and external equity.
  • Understand the talent needs of the organization and help anticipate recruitment and development planning issues.
  • Assist in planning and executing small-scale HR projects and initiatives.
  • Stay informed about corporate engagement initiatives and support their implementation.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative human resources data for assigned units and provide trend information to clients and HR colleagues.
  • Monitor turnover and work with internal client groups and HR colleagues on retention programs.
  • Collaborate with HCP colleagues to continually develop HR consulting skills for increased impact and stronger partnerships with units.


Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, psychology, business administration, or related field.
  • 4+ years of human resources experience.
  • Experience supporting HR policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Previous project management experience.

Skills:

  • Strong consulting skills, including the ability to understand internal client business needs and explain HR processes and principles to managers and staff.
  • Discretion and self-confidence to appropriately maintain employee confidential information.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Knowledge of employment law.
  • Experience utilizing HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.

Disclosures:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR's Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $75,000 - $90,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
