Postdoctoral Associate

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Ecology and Evolution or a closely related discipline in hand by the start of the appointment. Peer-reviewed publication record in molecular evolution.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with Sorex araneus as a model system. Experience with whole genomes, population genomic analysis and transcriptome sequence datasets. Programming experience in R, python and bash.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Liliana Davalos in the department of Ecology and Evolution. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will conduct research related to the project "Regrowing the brain; evolution and mechanisms of seasonal reversible size changes in a mammal."

* Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of molecular evolution, computational biology, and population genomics.

* Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.

* Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

* Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:

This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
