Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a resource for peer coaching leaders and teams on effective coaching practices that personalize support to students.
  • Assists program leaders in developing and implementing new coaching resources such as new tools, practices, requirements, and priorities.
  • Provides support to peer interns through additional call observations, feedback, coaching, and training to help peer interns meet job expectations, achieve key peer coaching metrics, and enhance students' satisfaction.
  • Observes peer interns' coaching calls and assesses the effectiveness of coaching sessions and student satisfaction.
  • Trains peer interns on implementing and applying the coaching framework in student interactions.
  • Identifies and recommends training and development opportunities for peer interns and partners with program leaders on additional training approaches.
  • Partners with program leaders to investigate and resolve student concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

  • Ability to develop and maintain deep knowledge of assigned areas of peer coaching support.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes and to support interns with implementing and applying changes.
  • Demonstrated effective academic coaching skills.
  • Ability to provide clear and productive feedback.
  • Ability to use data for the purpose of recommending and improving work processes.
  • Demonstrated organization skills with ahigh attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and modes of service delivery to support others' learning.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive and professional relationships.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience working in academic support in higher education, which may include advising, coaching, or advocating for students, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
  • Experience with social and emotional learning
  • Experience in academic coaching and training
  • Coaching certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Additional Information:

Work schedule will be driven by team needs and will include evenings and weekends.

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $21.10 - $30.57
