Bridge Engineer I

PRIME AE Group, Inc. (www.primeeng.com), a multi-faceted A&E firm with 23 offices in 10 States and over 500 employees throughout the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Northeast, is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join the existing Transportation Engineering Team in our Fairfax or Richmond, VA offices.

Position Overview:

The primary function of this role will be to take part in creating and evolving infrastructure designs from concept to final construction document phase. Project types include VDOT Highway Design and City / County Roadway and Intersection projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform analyses and apply problem solving techniques in order to develop creative, innovative solutions. Performs a variety of complicated tasks and critical thinking.
• Learn systems and software to include MicroStation and Open Roads.
• Gain experience in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Take part in reviewing, understanding, and applying local, state, and federal codes and standards related to the design and construction of project facilities.
• Learn and apply market specific guidelines, the practices and policies of the associated local and State standards and firm.
• Assist in designing various types of infrastructure projects utilized within the transportation and heavy civil industries.

Minimum Position Requirements:

• BSCE (required) with an emphasis in structures, MSCE (a plus).
• EI, EIT or FE preferred.
• 0-3 years' experience preferred in bridge, highway, roadway, and/or civil projects.
• Experience in the coordination of survey, grading, drainage, signing and pavement making, E&S, 3D modeling, cross sections, profiles, traffic control, utilities and layout, along with quantities, specifications and cost estimates of various site items is a plus.
• Working knowledge of MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
