Join Cottage Health as the Healthcare Translator. The Healthcare Translator provides translation services of written documents from English to another language for Cottage Health patients and providers. Included in the scope of practice are discharge documentation (AVS), patient letters, official Cottage Health forms and documents, signage, research documents and medical records for the purpose of improving communication and health outcomes. QUALIFICATIONS All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently. LEVEL OF EDUCATION Minimum: Associates' Degree in a language other than English or a health related field or equivalent professional translation experience using the standard of two years of experience equals one year of education Preferred: MA or PhD degree in English, other working languages or a health-related field. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Preferred: American Translators Association (ATA) Certificate or Equivalent and National Healthcare/Medical Interpreter Certification TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Minimum: Native fluency in oral and written English and other working languages, including knowledge of healthcare terminology. Must be able to pass CH Interpreter Competency Assessment Tool for Interpreter III Preferred: Native fluency in oral and written English and other working languages, including knowledge of healthcare terminology, basic anatomy and physiology YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum: 2 years of interpreting and translation experience or 2 years of professional healthcare experience in a language other than English Preferred: 2 years of translation experience in a healthcare setting About Us Cottage Health is a leading acute care hospital system, located on the central coast of California, widely known for our superior patient care, innovation, medical research and education.
