The School of Arts and Sciences ( SAS) is the largest academic unit at Rutgers University and the center of the undergraduate experience on the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning the liberal arts. SAS offers more than 100 majors and minors across the life sciences, humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and mathematical and physical sciences with research centers and institutes across the school. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory/Technical Assistant for the School of Arts and Sciences.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Carries out mouse care and breeding.
  • Performs basic molecular biology and immunological experiments following training.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant laboratory technician or research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous lab experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Willingness to learn new techniques and has an interest in experimental science.
  • Detail-oriented and a strong work ethic.
  • Must be comfortable with basic cell culturing techniques.
  • Able to perform basic lab maintenance and organization and have general computer skills (excel; powerpoint).
