Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant to work in the Amaro Research Lab within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Temporary Research Assistant will support lab research activities. Broadly, the Amaro Research Lab aims to improve psychosocial outcomes for youth and families, including siblings, impacted by pediatric cancer and sickle cell disease. The current research projects pertain to areas such as the following:
* Building and testing a web-based single-session intervention (
SSI) for adolescent siblings of youth with cancer
* Engaging with youth and parents through a Community Advisory Board
* Using mixed methods, such as surveys and qualitative interviews
* Conducting systematic and scoping reviews related to psychosocial interventions to support wellbeing in youth and families
The Temporary Research Assistant will engage in various research activities, including collecting, managing, and analyzing data. The Temporary Research Assistant may also perform other research tasks as directed, including drafting written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Conducts qualitative data analyses under supervision of the Principal Investigator.
- Assists in recruitment, date collection, and data management.
- Possesses effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to publish scientific research papers and articles.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, public health, or other life/medical science related fields.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Effective oral and communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degree in psychology, public health, or other life/medical science related fields of study preferred.
- At least one year of experience in behavioral science research.
