Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Assistant for the Office of Community Health at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Student Social Media Assistant(s) will work under the supervision of Maria Pellerano, MA,
MBA,
MPH and Eric Jahn, MD as they develop and launch a social media campaign to encourage New Brunswick residents to use local public parks and green space to help improve their physical and mental well-being. This project is part of the Healthier New Brunswick (
HNB) initiative, which is led by RWJMS' Office of Community Health, New Brunswick Tomorrow, City of New Brunswick, and Johnson & Johnson. The Student Social Media Assistant(s) will assist with the development of a social media campaign. The position will include assisting in the development of social media campaigns and other multimedia content, from concept development through execution, and will involve copywriting, photography, conducting any necessary interviews, and some graphic design. Duties also may include the creation and editing of short videos, distribution of content, supporting the Office of Community Health's faculty and staff, working with and brainstorming ideas for original content. This is a short-term hourly position. Work locations include remote,
RWJMS offices in downtown New Brunswick, and Rutgers University Libraries.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assist with project activities as needed to launch a social media campaign to encourage New Brunswick residents to use local public parks and green space to help improve their physical and mental well-being.
- Assist with editing and preparation of videos, infographics, publications, reports, presentations, and printed materials needed for the social media campaign and any marketing.
- Assist with script development for infographics and videos.
- With Office of Community Health faculty and staff, brainstorm ideas for original social prescribing content appropriate to the New Brunswick Community.
- Participate in community meetings to discuss the project.
- Help support the Office of Community Health's faculty and staff working on this project.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Satisfactory completion of high school / undergraduate degree and currently enrolled in undergraduate / graduate studies at Rutgers University.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Ability to create clear and simple infographics for people with limited English proficiency.
- Demonstrated interest in public health, community, and / or community health.
- Candidate must be a self-starter who is detail oriented, analytical, has strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
- Possess efficient organization, communication (oral and written), and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with community partners outside of Rutgers University.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 software applications including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and email, and fluency with learning new software applications.

- Knowledge of Canva or Adobe InDesign.
