The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of workers engaged in service to the Peace Corps mailroom by performing the following duties in accordance with the Statement of Work personally or through subordinate Lead Workers and staff. Serves as Project Manager in absence of same. Designated as "key personnel" on this contract. The position listed as Deputy Mail Operations Specialist in the Statement of Work. Additionally, this position is responsible for the duties and responsibilities of a lead facility clerk when needed. Provides support to the Chief, Facility Management the layout setup, and facility maintenance concerns of Shriver Hall and offices within the Peace Corps Headquarters. Serves as back up to the Driver in absence of the same. Must be able to achieve and maintain a secret clearance.



  • Act as a team leader in the work of all contractor personnel who process mail each workday, to ensure compliance with internal mail processing standards and operating procedures and the requirements of this contract. The Assistant Project Manager shall confer with the Project Manager to address problems related to the personnel employed under this contract and assist in the resolution of all personnel problems.
  • Assist in providing on-the-job training in mail processing methods and procedures to newly assigned messengers, and developing visual aids, as required promoting operational efficiency. Assist with the implementation of consumer service plans.
  • Assist in data gathering for various productivity reports on the volume of interoffice mail pieces processed daily.
  • Resolve working-level complaints and/or problems regarding sorted USPS and interoffice mail and resolve other operational problems within the scope of this contract.
  • Participate in sorting configuration and system changes to accommodate increased mail volumes and Peace Corps organizational changes.
  • Ensure that adequate personnel are available to accomplish the required work, and initiate replenishment actions for expendable equipment furnished by the government.
  • Resolves worker's problems or consults with superiors and HQ if necessary.
  • Provides leadership to staff by fostering teamwork while balancing team and individual responsibilities; giving feedback to nurture a positive team spirit and quality performance; and modeling dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and professional personal appearance.
  • Assures appropriate conduct and decorum at Peace Corps as dictated by Didlake policy and contract requirements.
  • Assures the safety of employees by monitoring the proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies.
  • Completes required paperwork and/or documentation.
  • Respond to and provide solutions and/or coordinate actions with the Project Manager.
  • Performs driving duties in the absence of the same.
  • Provides backup for Central Receiving Clerk.
