The Role

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Senior Manager, Supply Chain who will define and execute supply chain strategies that drive improvements in material flow, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and delivery. This position will work cross functionally with other Operations leaders to identify systemic issues and facilitate plans to mitigate and will be responsible for Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) in collaboration with Commercial operations, Site Operations, and Finance. Implements supplier management strategies in support of manufacturing and quality initiatives. This position will develop and maintain a high performing team that is focused on Talent Development, Continuous Improvement, and Supply Chain Excellence.

This position is based at our manufacturing site in Athens, Ohio.

The Responsibilities
  • Responsible for day-to-day leadership of a site team that consists of purchasing, vendor quality, production planning, inventory control, shipping, and receiving.

  • Establishes strategic direction, defines team goals and individual objectives, and manages performance expectations for the Operations Supply Chain organization.

  • Execute all departmental responsibilities to achieve profitability goals and maximize customer satisfaction.

  • Leads with a "Lean Leadership" mindset to include robust operating mechanisms, meaningful metrics, visual management, standard accountability, root cause problem solving, and a continuous improvement culture.

  • Represent site product lines within corporate Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), interfacing with Sales/Marketing and Production areas to translate sales forecasts into a master schedule and resulting production plans.

  • Manages and mentors' staff on vendor selections, relationship, price negotiation, and corrective actions.

  • Responsible for the development of purchase agreements and contracts dealing with arbitration of multifaceted terms, conditions, and requirements.

  • Works collaboratively with demand planning to review sales performance to forecast and ensure adjustments are made for production planning and purchasing team to execute production plans while setting/maintaining proper inventory levels to minimize cash flow impact and/or E&O exposure.

  • Assists Quality Assurance team to ensure conformance to cGMP and ISO requirements, develops selection criteria for evaluation, selection of suppliers, and evaluation of supplier performance. Implement supplier management strategies to support quality and manufacturing objectives.

  • Represents the site as a key contact to corporate functional leadership (commercial team, strategic procurement, global supply chain) pertaining to issue resolution, performance updates, and strategic initiatives.

  • Manages department annual budget, staffing levels, individual development plans, and succession strategy.

  • Perform other work-related duties assigned

The Individual Education and Experience:
  • BA / BS degree in business administration, engineering, related field, or a combination of work experience and education is required.

  • Minimum 7 experience with increasing responsibility in supply chain required

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience preferred.

  • Progressive responsibility in Supply Chain Management preferred.

  • Desirable certifications: APICS CPIM, CFPIM, or CIRM; or NAPM CPM.

Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strategic thinking with ability to facilitate and influence colleagues and direct reports

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence and manage key stakeholders, and build strong working relationships

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Expert knowledge in material requirements planning and production planning methods

  • Industry / commodity specific knowledge preferred.

  • Proven understanding of global chain-of-custody and distribution requirements and best practices.

  • Effective use of MRP / ERP systems. SAP experience a plus.

INTERACTIONS:

External Partners - Suppliers: Negotiate purchase contracts, conduct supplier quality surveys and supplier business meetings. Auditors: participate in audits for SOX compliance, other inventory related inquiries and ISO/FDA compliance audits

Internal Partners - Finance: Financial issues, inventory accuracy, inventory revaluations, E&O and inventory costs. Research: Serve on project teams representing all Materials functions. Marketing/Sales: Forecast and sales demands for production planning. Manufacturing: Collaboration of production schedule, resources and variances. Quality: Supplier evaluations and management, GMP and ISO requirements. Lead or participate in projects with suppliers, manufacturing, engineering and Quality to improve materials, quality, and to reduce costs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is representative of both an office and manufacturing setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

No strenuous physical activity. General office environment with some time spent in warehouse and manufacturing areas. Some travel required depending on assigned project(s), up to 2 times a year for customer meetings. Flexible work hours required to meet project deadlines.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $104,000 to $150,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
