The Role

As we continue to grow at QuidelOrtho, we are seeking an Instrument Service Specialist. The Instrument Service Specialist is an internal Field Engineer trained to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and qualify Vitros analyzers across the Canal Ponds campus. The successful candidate will utilize our service ticketing system as well as excellent communication skills to prioritize workload and provide issue resolution to keep projects on schedule. The position operates as part of a team to complete shared workload, but also functions independently with minimal day-to-day direction.

This is an onsite position in Rochester NY.

The Responsibilities

  • Independently performs routine instrument services, repairs and modifications of Vitros analyzers.
  • Implement diagnostic skill set to efficiently troubleshoot and resolve instrument failure modes.
  • Execution of preventative maintenance on Vitros Analyzers as required per procedure.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to service and support their analyzers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with SOP requirements and company procedures.
  • Execution of spare parts inventory management, including: ordering parts as needed, updating parts inventory.
  • Complete training to achieve required certifications and remain current with reoccurring training.
  • Effectively manage assigned workload within allotted time constraints.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Technical discipline; 4+ years of technical diagnostic experience; or combination of education and experience.
  • Careful attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Candidate must have a demonstrated proven track record of planning and organization of daily workload, high affinity toward teamwork and demonstrated problem solving using innovative solutions.
  • This position requires an individual who can multitask, adapt to changes in daily workload and priorities, and drive results in a cross-functional team setting.
  • Executes with service-oriented mindset, working with internal customers across various projects.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Windows software.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time based on project need.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of and experience with operation, service, or support of Vitros Analyzers or other QuidelOrtho product lines.
  • Experience in documentation protocols and procedures.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekend hours based on project needs.

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Up to 75% of the time at desk, standing or sitting extended periods of time. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.

Physical Demands

Up to 75% at desk, on manufacturing floor, walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role; 25% of time in meetings or on the phone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate lab equipment.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $28 - $33 an hour and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays.
