POSITION SUMMARY:

Person in this position will be responsible for the repair and the maintenance of WestCare facilities. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Maintain the facility grounds and maintain buildings in a safe and efficient operating condition.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies, donated items, and a tool control system.
  • Maintain, schedule, and supervise clients assigned to perform duties associated with the maintenance of the facility and grounds.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies and make routine repairs.
  • Diagnosis problems and provide assessments for anything that must be repaired or replaced.
  • Respond to work orders daily and track maintenance progress in our internal data base.
  • Transport clients outside of the facility, e.g., to perform job duties and to attend appointments.
  • Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation; and
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • Must possess knowledge of common methods, practices and materials used in maintenance and repair work of buildings and building facilities.
  • Must be familiar with the various tools used in building maintenance and repair work and their proper employment and care.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain clearance from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
  • Valid drivers license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCares vehicle insurance is required; and
  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test.
  • As mandated by Presidential Order all employees of WestCare Foundation, Inc. and all affiliates of WestCare Foundation, Inc. will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 effective 11/1/2021. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources will be required to test for the virus weekly.
  • During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • Two (2) years experiences in general semi-skilled maintenance and repair work, or as a building maintenance or construction trades worker.
  • Experience working with individuals and groups in a confined setting is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:



  • Not applicable for this position


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Work is primarily performed in a residential treatment facility.
  • Transportation of clients in company vehicle; and
  • Some outdoor activities may be required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • Tasks that involve no exposure to human blood, body fluids, or tissues but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, BUT exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee engaged in Category II tasks
  • Occasional lifting of more than 25 pounds.
  • Occasional risk of intensive physical activity with clients; and
  • Sitting, standing, walking, reaching are performed in the normal course of the position.
