Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is currently seeking a full-time, dynamic professional to join the Compliance Program. The position operates in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and is responsible for assisting and facilitating the Compliance Program's promotion of effective and efficient delivery of services via the review and analysis of data related to chart reviews. The ideal candidate will have experience communicating pertinent information to all levels of the department; have excellent interpersonal skills; have the ability to problem solve; and have excellent critical thinking and computer skills.
The compliance specialist will use and develop internal auditing tools to compile, analyze, and report audit results to senior leadership. The compliance specialist works within a team to conduct human rights investigations. The job requires strong attention to detail; having the ability to work successfully in a team and independently; and meeting with program staff to review areas of improvement. This is an office-based position with the potential for a hybrid telework schedule.
In addition to the primary responsibilities listed above the Compliance Specialist shall assist the Compliance Program by:
- Conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Coordinating audit requests from regulatory agencies and is the liaison between department staff and auditors regarding requests for documentation and site visits.
- Providing workforce documentation, incident reporting, and regulation training.
- Collecting incident report, investigation, and root cause analysis data daily.
- Completing Corrective Actions Plans for regulatory agencies and monitors for effective implementation.
- Using and developing internal auditing tools; compiling, analyzing, and reporting audit results to senior leadership.
- Creates in depth reports from the health record to review high-risk incidents.
- Attending the Local Human Rights Committee on behalf of Loudoun County MHSADS.
- Navigating and using computers and technology, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record, to analyze and present data.
- Skillfully communicating ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- On a rotating schedule, provide remote on-call support for compliance activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field; two (2) years of related work experience in mental health, substance abuse, and/or developmental services field in the public sector or similar field serving adults and youth with mental health, substance use, and/or intellectual/developmental needs including one (1) year of experience conducting health and human services investigations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV, and TB test. Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
