Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • At least three years' of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of lean tools such as Kanban, Poke Yoke, Time Studies, Kaizen Events, etc. preferred.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and DMAIC methods preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills with MS office software.
  • Ability to read and understand simple to complex assembly procedures, drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge manufacturing processes.
  • Solid knowledge of ISO compliance requirements.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize appropriately and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Working Conditions: Encountered on a regular basis as part of the work this job performs.

  • Typical lab environment.
  • Some work is done on manufacturing floor with exposure to fumes and toxic chemicals and some risk of electric shock.
  • Ability to use soldering iron, oscilloscope, de-soldering iron, small hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel to assemble product.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms to assemble product.
  • Clear vision at 20 inches or less, ability to identify and distinguish colors, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are necessary to assemble small parts under a magnifying lamp.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds to move product and equipment.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for determining most effective ways to create a product or service. Develops ways to increase productivity, maximize efficiency, and decrease touch time.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and assists with implementation of most efficient ways to utilize people, machines, materials, information, and energy to produce products.
  • Optimizes methods to increase productivity.
  • Studies and rearranges material flow and operations sequence to improve throughput. Applies Six Sigma and DMAIC Uses lean tools such as Kanban, Poke Yoke, Time Studies, Kaizen Events, etc. to determine best practices and work balance for various processes throughout the organization.
  • Provides recommendations and implements reductions to touch time and improves efficiency of manufacturing operations.
  • Develops management control systems.
  • Designs methods to ensure product quality.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots production difficulties and takes corrective measures.
  • Designs layout of equipment, workspace, electric and data drops.
  • Estimates production labor costs, based on time studies.
  • Creates sampling procedures and designs.
  • Evaluates accuracy of production and testing equipment.
  • Evaluates effects of product design changes.
  • Supports supervisors in analyzing and improving the flow of information and materials as it pertains to the reduction of lead times.
  • Works with cross-functional teams and departments in identifying, developing & implementing improvements.
  • Effectively leads and manages projects that involve multiple business functions, within time and cost constraints.
  • Standardizes tasks/processes and develop the corresponding metrics.
  • Assists with the writing of procedures.
  • Supervises special tests concerning product and process improvement.
  • Ensures that continuous improvement activities match organizational goals.
  • Assists with writing code and supports BISync.
  • Ensures that changes conform to ISO and safety standards.
  • Completes all paperwork relating to jobs performed with accuracy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
