What you'll do

Docusign is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join the Connect team.

Connect is Docusign's webhook infrastructure team. This team supports a Tier 0 service (Docusign Connect) that is responsible for enabling internal and external customers to get notifications on events for any Docusign product. Many customers rely on this to power their downstream systems like vaulting and storage of agreements, reporting, or triggering workflows specific to their organization's needs. Connect processes tens of billions of events with a p99 end-to-end latency of less than 1s.

As a Lead Software Engineer on the Connect team, you are responsible for designing, building and maintaining key features that are integral to our customers and business. You are a hands-on technical expert who will guide and contribute to our development and operations teams to improve the creation of infrastructure solutions that scale with our rapid growth. As a successful lead engineer, you have a flexible attitude combined with an aptitude to learn and share. You are responsible not only for writing quality, scalable code but also for guiding the team to make the right decisions. You enjoy working in a fast-paced agile environment, care about the team's decisions, and are focused on quality-driven development.

We are seeking an engineer who is experienced in building distributed cloud applications. You will have the opportunity to work on a complex ecosystem in the cloud with a focus on scale and availability. You will be responsible for developing software solutions using object oriented methodologies, design patterns, and building scalable, highly available systems. You will also have experience with public cloud and be curious and able to learn new technologies and toolsets.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Manager, Engineering.

Responsibility

  • Write high quality code in C# .Net and other object-oriented languages that is easy to maintain and test

  • Participate in an agile environment using Scrum software development practices, automated unit testing, continuous integration, code reviews, version control systems and automated build processes

  • Research new features and technologies

  • Raise issues proactively that might impact delivery commitments

  • Fix production issues and maintain the code as needed

  • Think about how to solve problems in scale and build fault tolerant systems

  • Articulate clear Software Engineering strategies, plans, goals and objectives across multiple Engineering domains, projects and teams, including cross-functional partners

  • Lead troubleshooting and remediation quickly during high severity incidents

  • Be responsible for sharing and adoption of best practices for performance and availability for one or more functional area

  • Contribute to and drive a culture of building scalable and highly available systems

  • Identify, propose, and implement process improvements to continuously increase the teams productivity and efficiency

  • Stay current with the latest development best practices and share your findings with the team

  • Work as part of a cross-site development team to drive design, implementation, testing and release of products


Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • 12+ years of overall software product development or Cloud/SaaS/Enterprise software engineering experience
  • 12+ years' experience in C#, Java, C++, or other object-oriented programming languages
  • 10+ years of experience with engineering best practices to include analyzing, designing, developing, deploying, and supporting software solutions, and/or infrastructure implementations/upgrades
  • 4+ years in leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with Cloud Computing (public, private, and hybrid)
  • Experience with the entire software development lifecycle, including version control (git), build process, testing, and code release
  • Experience developing software solutions using object-oriented methodologies and design patterns
  • Experience with SQL
  • Agile and Test-driven development methodologies

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience in high scale, highly available (99.99+) systems
  • Hands-on, professional experience with building RESTful web-services
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience with cloud platforms
  • Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies and tool sets
  • Experience with Microsoft technology stack (.NET, C#, SQL Server, NOSQL databases, etc.)
  • Passion for writing high-performance, reusable code for components that will be used across our product

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $171,500.00 - $277,025.00 base salary

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $164,800.00 - $242,225.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
