POSITION TITLE: Research Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
Dr. Srinivasan is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated research technician for his lab which is currently conducting research at the intersection of neuroscience and physiology. The role involves a variety of scientific tasks, including molecular genetic and biochemical methodologies, managing and maintaining C. elegans and mouse strains, overseeing lab and database organization, ordering supplies, and preparing reagents (buffers and media), as well as molecular cloning. The successful candidate will engage with and support a dynamic team of highly motivated postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. While not essential, there may be opportunities to lead an independent project.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:




  • Utilize molecular genetic and biochemical methodologies to support ongoing research.



  • Maintain and manage C. elegans and mouse strains, ensuring proper care and documentation.



  • Organize lab space and maintain research databases for efficient data management and retrieval.



  • Coordinate the ordering of lab supplies and maintain an organized inventory.



  • Prepare reagents, including buffers and media, for various experiments.



  • Conduct molecular cloning experiments to support research projects.



  • Actively engage with postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, providing technical support as needed.




REQUIREMENTS:





    • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Genetics, or a related discipline, with 1-2 years of lab or bench internship experience specifically in molecular genetic techniques preferred.
    • Alternatively, three (3) to six (6) years of related laboratory experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Strong attention to detail, meticulous organization, and record-keeping skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a research team.
    • Scientific curiosity and a commitment to supporting research excellence.




COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $18.67 to $24 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
