DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will apply your expertise in engineering components to support the formulation of regulations, policies, procedures, and guidance documents. Your responsibilities will include a wide range of duties from participating in reviewing construction drawings associated with airport infrastructure projects per Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards to being involved with reviewing siting of vertiports for advanced air mobility (AAM) projects.

This role requires a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of non-crewed aircraft system (UAS) and AAM projects, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders throughout the development process. You will offer insights and recommendations regarding FAA plans and specifications pertinent to airport-related projects. Your contributions will be essential in ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met and that projects are executed efficiently and safely.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title); or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Special Requirement:
  • This position will require possession of a valid driver's license.
