DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will train and support team members to ensure they have the necessary technical skills and meet performance standards. You will oversee the processing and issuance of occupancy permits by assigning tasks, training inspectors, reviewing compliance with regulations, and addressing complex issues. Additionally, you will conduct visits to county offices to ensure permits are issued correctly and to evaluate the work of employees involved in occupancy inspections. Your responsibilities will also include managing fees, maintaining records, and preparing regular and special reports. You will guide subordinates in reviewing and processing incoming applications, as well as tracking right-of-way plans and traffic studies for internal and external review. It is essential to represent the department professionally when communicating with applicants, contractors, and engineers, providing clear explanations about processes and application statuses. Furthermore, you will analyze data from the Roadway Management Information System to approve pavement restoration details. Supporting quality improvement initiatives and encouraging employee participation will be key, as you recommend and implement new strategies to enhance efficiency and foster a sense of pride in the team's work.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or
- Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
