Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 174-bed, private psychiatric center located in Orlando, FL. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services. Central Florida Behavioral Hospital offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents and adults; and partial hospitalization, intensive out-patient and ECT services for adults. Position Summary

****This is NOT a remote position. Only applicants with a Professional Coder Credential issued by AAPC or AHIMA will be considered for this role. ****

The Medical Coder is responsible for translating a patient's diagnosis and procedures into numeric code.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate medical codes to diagnoses, adhering to relevant coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Review medical documentation for proper coding.
  • Collaborate with medical providers and billing specialists to clarify coding questions, resolve discrepancies, and optimize claim accuracy.
  • Stay updated with the latest coding guidelines, industry changes, and regulations to maintain the highest level of coding proficiency.
  • Participate in team meetings, offering insights and suggestions for process improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) year's experience coding and working in Medical Records/Health Information Management
  • AAPC or AHIMA certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder - Apprentice (CPC-A) required.
  • Proven experience in medical coding expertise in various healthcare specialties.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare EMR solutions like Cerner and 3M.
  • Excellent knowledge of ICD-10 and other relevant coding systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to delivering error-free coding results.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with medical providers and the internal team.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment and contribute positively to a supportive and collaborative office culture.
  • Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: M-F 8 AM - 5 PM
