Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: Pharmacy Lead Technician, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, will assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department to include assurance that all technical functions are being met by the pharmacy technicians, including use of Pyxis. Pharmacy technicians assist the pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. Pharmacy Technicians function in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines and state and federal regulations. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Duties include but are not limited to: responsible for setting up and maintaining the Pyxis MedStation. Serves as facility's Pyxis expert, working closing with pharmacy, nursing and information support staff to assure safe and accurate medication distribution. Also serves as Secondary Controlled Substance Technician, responsible for overseeing the operation and security of the controlled substance distribution system (Pyxis CII Safe). Inventories, restocks, and rotates as necessary all pharmacy medication stocks, IV solutions, supplies, and operational supplies and equipment. In addition is also responsible for any duties assigned by the Director of Pharmacy including activities such as generating and distributing reports, scheduling, payroll functions, maintaining department information, drafting correspondence, and acting as the department contact to external customers. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Well organized, able to meet deadlines 2. Strong computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel and Access) 3. Must be able to work under stressful situations and adapt accordingly to changes in the work environment. 4. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of Pharmacy 5. Current TX State Pharmacy Technician certification 6. Three years experience required 7. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. High School diploma, GED or Higher Education required. 2. Current Texas State Pharmacy Technician Registration 3.
