Position Summary:

The Activity Therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in assessment, treatment planning, and group therapy treatments within their area of specialty. The Activity Therapist is responsible for completing an activity therapy assessment for both adult and adolescent patients in an acute psychiatric / detox facility. The Activity Therapist will provide groups per the unit schedules and document accurately each individual's participation. Music therapy, art therapy and other recreational therapy modalities are very much appreciated by our population.

Education/Training:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy, recreational therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy or psychology/social service with appropriate experience.
• Competence in assisting clinical staff with aggressive/assaultive patients.

Experience:

• One year experience working in psychiatric setting preferred.

License/Certification:

• Current state license as a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Therapist preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Good overall interpersonal skills.
• Ability to function well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Professionalism and good customer service skills.
