Newport News Behavioral Health Center uses a cognitive behavioral treatment model that encourages youth to safely explore thoughts and feelings related to the development of positive and desirable behavior within their homes and communities. Our programs have been designed to provide each individual resident quality mental health treatment in a safe therapeutic environment. It is the mission of Newport News Behavioral Health Center to promote recovery from the effects of abuse, addiction and other behavioral issues through specialized treatment interventions provided by a community of caring professionals.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares hot and cold food items as listed on approved menu, recipes or procedures. Prepares desserts.
  • Assures that all food items are served at appropriate temperatures and in an attractive manner. Maintains quantity without compromising quality throughout the meal services.
  • Uses leftovers in a creative, appealing, and timely manner.
  • Maintains sanitation of food production, refrigeration and storage areas.
  • Maintains high standards of personal hygiene, food service safety and sanitation.
  • Performs management responsibilities as designated by the Director of Support Services.
  • Maintains adequate stock of food and non-food supplies.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly kitchen and work area.
  • Practices kitchen safety rules.
  • Practices high standards of food service sanitation rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Two years experience in institutional cooking and one year in a supervisory position (preferred)
  • Food Handler Certification (preferred)
