Under general supervision of the Director of Student Accounts, performs accurate cash handling, banking, bookkeeping and accounting responsibilities. Work is detailed and diversified requiring judgment, analytical skills, and decision-making abilities according to established practices and procedures. Supervision received is general in nature using established procedures and general objectives and limited to problems or unusual conditions. Works both independently and with staff in a work-team approach.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes Student Accounts in Colleague ERP system to understand balance information and accurately communicate to students.
  • Receipts accurate student payments and daily reconciliation and open/closing processes for cashiering sessions
  • Accurately process vendor and sponsorship request forms to ensure accurate billing and invoicing.
  • Records, summarizes, and posts to ledger accounts from source documents and books of original entry.
  • Records receipt and disbursement of funds to accounts using Generally Accepted Accounting principles. .
  • Accurately Records receipt of payments to respective accounts.
  • Performs various financial transactions with students, performing cashiering duties, and serving as backup for general accounting functions that are performed in Student Accounts.
  • Reconciles accounts and session statements at month's end.
  • Assists accountants with data entry and reporting.
  • Collects trial balances, reconciles simple accounts, and operates accounting software and 10-key calculators.
  • Prepares operating statements, invoices, receipts, lists of disbursements, payrolls, and other required reports.
  • Accumulates and records financial data to transfer to journal entries in subsidiary ledgers.
  • Performing cashiering duties.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, finance, business or a related area. or
  • an Associate's degree; with two (2) years banking, or accounting experience using understanding and applying recognized accounting principles and practices or
  • In lieu of degree, five (5) years equivalent combination of training and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and the ability pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 50% of time spent sitting, 25% of time standing, and 25% of time walking.

Supplemental Information

Hours: This is a full-time position (38.75 hours/week), Monday to Friday, with occasional evening hours for special events. There are three vacancies in the department. Shifts available are 9:30 am-6:00 pm, 7:45 am-4:15 pm, and 8:00 am-4:30 pm.

Salary Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
