Description
As a member of the global Aurorium Process Engineering Team, the Advanced Process Engineer is responsible for executing business unit driven process development programs using practical application of fundamental engineering principles. This role offers a mindset for the development, design, and introduction of new chemical and pharmaceutical processes from lab through to full scale manufacture of new and existing products, provides ongoing technical support for existing businesses including the improvement and optimization of chemical processes.

Job Details

Role Specific Responsibilities:
  • Defines, leads, and manages process design projects to generate constructable design for new or expanded processes
  • Incorporates commercial and operational cost elements into design objectives to target both commercial and technical success
  • Develops appropriate engineering models to improve scaleup and operation of Aurorium technologies and to secure and enhance Aurorium process knowledge
  • Delivers new chemical process design for the engineering team and collaborates with project and operation teams throughout the execution of a project from concept to commercial scale production

  • Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
  • Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
  • Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times

  • Active participation in continuous improvement activities
  • Participates in problem-solving
  • Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business
  • Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members
  • Exercises autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required


Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience within engineering design and/or manufacturing of chemical or pharmaceutical products
  • Specialized expertise in any of the following is preferred: organic chemistry, separations, kinetic measurements, formulation, solids handling and processing, catalysis, heat and mass transfer, mixing/blending, crystallization, batch and continuous processes, integrated reaction/separations.
  • Experience with Aspen modeling, statistical software packages, and DCS infrastructure is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience with cross functional teams and engineering projects
  • Analytical approach to defining unit operations and developing process equipment calculations and designs
  • Experience working in PSM regulated environment and leading safety reviews
  • Fundamental knowledge of continuous and batch chemical operations including reaction, distillation, heat exchange, solids handling, utilities, and process control
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
  • Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinking skills and analytical abilities which allow assessments of situations and opportunities to drive decisions
  • Exhibits a passion for continuous improvement and problem solving
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
