The Sherwin-Williams Enterprise Financial, Planning & Analytics team provides centralized planning and forecasting for Sherwin-Williams' global businesses. This includes partnering with the company's business units to develop an accurate view and expectation of business drivers enabling business strategy and action. The Financial Manager position has the opportunity to gain exposure to many of the company's operating units and interact with leaders of the organization. This position communicates regularly with various levels of business unit leadership, enterprise finance networks, 3rd party consultants, and representatives from various functional teams. This position works both independently and collaboratively to lead forward-looking workstreams focused on improvement, optimization, and driving financial outcomes across the different levels of the organization. A successful candidate will be asked to continuously improve in financial forecasting and planning, models, processes, and related reporting to communicate ideas and expectations clearly. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Global Enterprise Process Owner of:
- SG&A expense planning/forecasting, tracking, and control
- Workforce planning (headcount, cost, workforce supply/demand optimization)
- Other Expense (non-cost of goods sold) planning/forecasting, tracking, and control
- Enterprise-wide management of strategic initiative spend planning, tracking, control, and analysis.
- Execute responsibilities according to lawful and company standards, which includes the company's seven guiding values: integrity, people, service, quality, performance, innovation, and growth.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS FORMAL EDUCATION: Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with a focus in Finance or Accounting
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Accounting or Finance or an MBA with a focus in Accounting, Finance or related field, CPA, or CMA certification
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required:
- 5+ years of finance and/or accounting experience
- Progressive experience working on teams in a lead role with experience managing projects, leading meetings, tracking issues.
- Advanced proficiency with skills such as analytical, written, and verbal communication, appropriate customer presence, and presentation abilities.
- People management experience, especially in driving execution and providing high-quality work within expected timeframes.
Preferred:
- Experience using and implementing financial modeling and forecasting tools.
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Required:
- Planning, Budgeting, & Forecasting - Ability to create financial models leveraging key drivers of financial performance, including the use of historical data to predict future outcomes. This can include creating a rolling forecast, capital planning, workforce planning, commercial planning, and building an annual operating plan. Additionally, can include driving cohesion across enterprise planning processes (e.g., Supply/Demand, Sales, Marketing, HR, and Finance) to ensure consistent S&OP/IBP.
- Scenario Modelling & Strategic Initiatives - Ability to run various scenarios and assess financial and non-financial impacts. Includes evaluating the probability of outcomes to inform business decisions.
- Strategic Planning - Ability to understand market position, competitive landscape, and industry trends with a longer-term lens, to drive and influence strategic planning.
- Variance Analytics & Reporting - Analyze variances between actual performance and forecasted results to identify drivers and develop and present prescriptive recommendations for action.
- Strategic Influence - Ability to effectively engage stakeholders and change others' attitudes, behaviors, and decisions towards achieving desired outcomes through communication and engagement strategies.
- Ability to use organizational and industry knowledge to develop solutions to enhance the strategic planning process through thoughtful analysis of market and competitive landscape trends across business units.
- Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with Sherwin-Williams various financial systems
