Material Handler - 1st Shift

The employee will become part of the Purdy paintbrush manufacturing team. Purdy manufactures professional painting tools of the highest quality. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials are properly stocked for all operations.

Additional Information:

1st Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:15pm

This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and vendors.



  • Trained on forklift operation
  • The use of the RF machine to move raw materials
  • Retrieve and deliver handles, keepers, nails, epoxy, ferrules, plastic plugs, inserts, plugs, hook and loop, boxes, keepers, velcro, fabric, labels, bags, poly, end caps and pallets.
  • Fill anti stat and lay out raw materials for Tippers
  • Maintain production and material issues to ensure a continued product flow
  • Assist in repairing, clean up and assist with other positions when necessary
  • Fill in for other material handlers when out
  • Work together with other Material Handlers on a daily basis
  • Unload materials from Receiving and deposit in proper location
  • Maintain fluid levels on forklift and communicate with Maintenance on a regular basis
  • Safely handle chemicals using proper PPE
  • Gather and dispose of waste
  • Use compactor
  • Conduct weekly cycle count of materials
  • Perform essential housekeeping procedures
  • Stack and shrink wrap finished goods and prepare for shipping
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements:



  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Have at least one (1) year of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating mobile power equipment such as lift trucks, tow motors or pallet handling equipment, order pickers, high lifts, forklifts, or cherry pickers
