Description: We are seeking a skilled and security-minded SharePoint Administrator to manage and maintain our SharePoint environment for the Department of Defense (DoD). The SharePoint Administrator will be responsible for deploying, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting SharePoint servers, sites, and related applications to ensure secure and efficient collaboration across our DoD environment. This role requires a hands-on approach to SharePoint administration, compliance with DoD security policies, and the ability to support users effectively in a high-security environment.

Farm/System Administration

  • Administer and manage deployments and maintenance of environments, supporting software.
  • Integrate Team Foundation Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, and Microsoft Project Server.
  • Perform SharePoint migrations.
  • Configure SharePoint search, index configurations, and scheduling.
  • Oversee the overall health and maintenance of all SharePoint environments, including security, availability, performance, interoperability, and reliability.
  • Manage all network/SharePoint Farm patching, software upgrades, and patches.
  • Configure SharePoint Farms to maintain a stable platform.
  • Evaluate and restructure SharePoint environments and sites for optimal performance and security.
  • Implement and support disaster recovery solutions.
  • Provide system documentation and consulting services, including system reviews and recommendations.
  • Conduct routine monitoring and analysis, including audit log evaluations, system and storage utilization reports, site/system usage growth reports, and management of site collection quotas.
  • Implement security measures, manage user access control, and monitor potential security threats.
  • Analyze SharePoint performance and implement strategies to enhance speed and efficiency.

DTRA Environment

  • Provide IT support for technical issues and virtual environments built on Microsoft and VMware/Hyper-V.
  • Troubleshoot internal and external portal malfunctions to maintain functionality.
  • Research and implement new web features/software and tools, maximizing accessibility and expanding online offerings.
  • Support and maintain software and database integration between SharePoint and in-house applications.
  • Collaborate with DTRA system administrators to understand and anticipate network changes/upgrades.
  • Design, implement, and support Microsoft-related technologies (Windows Server, Office 365, SQL, SharePoint).
  • Ensure SharePoint security, authentication, authorization, and compliance requirements.
  • Administer Windows Servers, Active Directory, including ADFS, DNS, SMTP, Network Load Balancing, Windows Firewall, Event Viewer, Performance Monitoring, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Implement/configure IIS with .NET Framework, ASP.NET, application pools, configuration files, and user authentication.
  • Utilize Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) scanning tools and complete DoD STIG requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in SQL Server, SSIS, XML, HTML, CSS, and Visual Studio.

SharePoint/SPO

  • Build, grow, and sustain DOD365-J by creating enthusiasm, engaging users, tackling business challenges, supporting solutions, and providing feedback to project teams and sponsors.
  • Maintain/sustain existing SharePoint sites, subsites, lists, libraries, and content (pages, workflows, items).
  • Familiar with SharePoint development and customization, including web parts, workflows, templates, and branding.
  • Administer, support, and configure SharePoint Online and supporting applications.
  • Manage sites, designate site admins, manage sharing settings, and oversee Microsoft 365 groups.
  • Act as a liaison between DISA DEOS PMO and the organization, communicating and enforcing governance in DOD365-J.

DISA SPO Lead:

  • Coordinate organizational SPO needs and governance with DOD365-J SPO Team.
  • Communicate and enforce governance within the organization.
  • Vet and submit SPO Requests for Change (RFCs) to the DoD365 Program's Change Advisory Board.
  • Open tickets with GSD for site-related issues and approve/deny site requests.

DISA SPO Site Admin Team:

  • Execute approved self-service requests from SPO Leads.
  • Utilize advanced features of the SPO Management Tool to manage organizational sites.
  • Manage parent site collections and execute approved Project Online Site requests.

Customer Support

  • Provide technical expertise and support for break/fix incidents or problem resolution.
  • Work on service and project tickets, following internal procedures.
  • Engineer and implement system solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Gather requirements, design, and develop solutions accordingly.
  • Communicate incident progress, changes, and outages with customers.
  • Document internal processes and responsibilities.
  • Develop and adhere to a change management process with visibility to IT teams and stakeholders.
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within broader business initiatives.

Environment Management

  • Administer term stores and SharePoint Admin Center.
  • Assist with app testing and provide process improvement recommendations.
  • Write and review reports and documentation, including:
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Technical Implementation Guides
    • Change Request (CRQs)
    • Remedy Tickets
    • Requirements documentation, user guides, feedback/testing lists, app code documentation, and meeting notes.
  • Develop RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
  • Support requirements capture.
  • Test applications, provide user feedback, and write test cases and outcomes.

  • Security +
  • Currently 2 days on site one week, 3 days the next week. Location at DTRA in Fort Belvoir
  • CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570.01-M compliant)
  • Strong experience with SharePoint Server administration (installation, configuration, and management).
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating SharePoint tasks.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and its integration with SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online is a plus.
  • Understanding of DoD Information Assurance and cybersecurity policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve SharePoint-related issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for providing user support, training, and collaborating with technical teams.
  • Ability to document configurations, processes, and procedures effectively.

Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Associate

  • ITIL Foundation Certification (or equivalent knowledge of IT service management)
