Minimum Qualifications |
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications. |
Preferred Qualifications |
This position prefers a master's degree or bachelor's degree with three years of experience. It is preferable that the degree be in public health, medicine, disaster sciences, or other discipline related to disasters. |
Position Summary |
The position serves as a logistics coordinator for in-office and field activities in the development and execution of critical, urgent, complex, and high-level disaster preparedness projects. The position will accurately define, explain, and interpret matters of emergency management/disaster planning, reporting, and assistance when communication with stakeholders. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Ability to interface with clients; Ability to manage multiple projects including: setting and meeting project timelines/goals, monitoring, evaluating, and production of final products.
- Ability to produce high-quality printed training materials;
- Ability to manage complete registration and data-collection processes;
- Willingness to obtain profession-specific certifications;
- Working knowledge of NIMS and Incident Command System.

Travel to meetings and preparedness events in locations across the southeast facilitate discussions; take notes, and set up for meetings involving large diverse groups This position may require up to 30% of work time as over-night travel away from the main University Campus, and may require up to 50 nights overnight stays in hotel/motel lodging each year. This will include travel to meetings, conferences, preparedness events, etc. |

- Draft meeting documentation/handouts (i.e., agendas, PowerPoint presentations, meeting minutes, worksheets, etc.) using Institute templates with integration of new material identified by project officers, Institute faculty & staff, and/or community partners.
- Edit, proof, copy, and collate materials associated with externally funded projects.
- Manage and handle meeting and event registration processes, including preparing meeting sign-in sheets and documentation or entering and managing data collected during registration for, and evaluation of, all meetings and events.

- Communicate with program officers, state and local public health officials, emergency management professionals; first responders, project clients, students, staff, faculty, and government contractors to incorporate their input into final products.

- Attend training and certification classes taught throughout the state and the nation to acquire necessary certifications to remain current on trends and emergency/disaster management. Required certifications will be dictated by Institute leadership and project officers on extramural funds.
UGA is an academic institution, therefore this position will contribute to publications, assist the faculty with disaster management classes, and help conduct student trainings.
