Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination and development of programs including Personal Training, Group Fitness, Small Group Training, Campus Well-being Initiatives, Outreach, and Special Events.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, scheduling, and disciplinary action of 70+ F&W staff, including 4 program assistants.
  • Plan and facilitate program assistant meetings including professional and leadership development.
  • Work closely with program assistants to schedule, plan, and facilitate monthly area meetings and create and distribute a monthly F&W newsletter.
  • Meet weekly with the Associate Director for Fitness, Well-being & Student Engagement.
  • Assist with the instruction of the AFAA Group Fitness Prep Course and/or NASM Personal Trainer prep courses.
  • Lead training and continuing education efforts for F&W staff and participants through staff meetings, educational experiences, hosting fitness certifications, and workshop/conference attendance.
  • Create, maintain, and update job aids, handbooks, and protocols for F&W staff.
  • Assist with the coordination of fitness and well-being outreach programs for the University community.
  • Work closely with the Coordinator for Fitness and Wellness and program assistants to coordinate the evaluation process for group fitness instructors and personal trainers (once per semester).
  • Support campus well-being efforts and initiatives in collaboration with Student Affairs units.
  • Maintain an active presence in the Department of Recreational Sports.
  • Serve as a substitute Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer as needed.
  • Uphold professional and cultural standards set forth in the Recreational Sports and F&W professional staff handbook.
  • Work cooperatively with all Recreational Sports staff and assist with departmental special events and area marketing.
  • Participate in bi-weekly professional development activities and complete an experiential capstone project as outlined in the Rec Sports Professional Intern Learning Curriculum.
  • Serve as a co-advisor for the Recreational Sports Council.
