JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Movement Neuroscience and the Neurorehabilitation laboratories at Penn State University, under the direction of Dr. Bob Sainburg is seeking a postdoctoral scholar with skills in Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation Techniques(NIBS: TMS, HD-tDCS) to study the functional neuroanatomy of motor learning andadaptation.

The Movement Neuroscience lab is in the Penn State College of Health andHuman Development, Department of Kinesiology, while the Neurorehabilitation Laboratoryis in the Department of Neurology, Penn State College of Medicine. Dr.Sainburg runs both labs. This post-doc will work on projects funded by NIH and NSF, with an emphasis onhuman motor learning and adaptation, using NIBS techniques in conjunction with upper extremity tasks requiring adaptation and skill learning.

The position requires a backgroundin Kinematic and Kinetic analysis, Neuroscience, EMG analysis, Non-Invasive BrainStimulation, and computer programming, as required to design and modify experimentalprotocols and data analyses. The applicant will be expected to be involved in all stages of experimental design and analysis, as well as scientific reporting, and will receivementorship in these skills as well as grantsmanship. The ideal candidate will hold an earned Ph.D. degree in Kinesiology, Neurology, or a related field. A track record of successful research in this field is preferred, and excellent communication skills are essential.The successful candidate must have completed all Ph.D. degree requirements by the appointment date.

This is a term appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire, with an excellent possibility of renewal.
