JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Engineering, Office of Engineering Research Administration (OERA) is seeking a dynamic, hardworking, skilled professional for the position of Proposal and Award Generalist - Advanced Professional for the Research Development team. This position will perform most work activities in a large volume, fast-paced, complex, detailed and multifaceted environment. This position is responsible for assisting in the administration of policies and procedures concerning contracts, and grants from various federal, state, local agencies and private corporations and foundations.

Provide assistance to investigators, departments, and the finance office in all aspects of post-award administration of various grants and contracts to include, but not limited to:

  • Perform research reporting functions to assist OERA and faculty with monitoring and determining needed actions for functions such as cost share, overspent accounts, and closeout status.

  • Determining project expenditure compliance with guidelines; serve as liaison with sponsors and other University offices on behalf of faculty and staff.

  • Work with faculty, Research Accounting and sponsors on complex invoicing requirements.

  • Process budget revisions, no-cost extensions, and other research administration functions.

  • Provide assistance in creation of new accounts in SIMBA, account transfers, monitor deadlines, resolve problems.

  • Advise finance office and departments on contractual matters.

  • Advise subcontract coordinators on research matters.

  • Assist in the close-out of sponsored projects to ensure timely financial close-out of sponsored projects.

  • Assist in the preparation of special management funding reports.

  • Assist in modifying procedures to meet changing regulations and University policies.

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher plus three years of related experience, equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduate of Penn State ACES Program and experience with electronic proposal submission sites, SIMBA, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and SIMS/SIMS Budgets is preferred. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-drive environment.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
